Although my parents lived on the Isle of Bute in Scotland I was born in Greenock on the mainland as there were complications with my birth. It was february 1963 and one of the coldest winters in living memory. The snow was still on the ground when i came out of hospital and returned to Bute two months later.
My father worked as a radio operator in the merchant navy and was often away on long trips round the world but I had many relatives and was well loved by those around me.
When I was seven dad decided it was time to get an on-shore job and so it was that we moved from the Isle of Bute down to Somerset, England where I spent the rest of my childhood.
It wasn't till years later (2005) through the kindness of friends helping me in a low point in my life that I came to be living on the Isle of Skye.
I found out at that time that both my great grandparents on my dads side were from Broadford on Skye.
At that time I started taking photographs with a little Kodak 2 megapixel easyshare camera and so began a fresh expression of creativity through appreciating the beauty of Skye.
I got my first DSLR in 2008 and began selling my photographs and persuing a career in art and photography.
The atmosphere produced at dawn and dusk when Sea meets Land is often wonderful and a good deal of my photography is an attempt to capture something of it's essence.
